Top 10 Bank Stocks with the Highest Total Returns in 2016
With all that has happened in the U.S. and the world in 2016 - the Brexit, the Wells Fargo scandal, and the presidential election - we decided to identify bank stocks with the highest total returns in 2016. Not only do each of these investments show a total year-to-date return of over 60 percent, they are all BUY rated by Weiss.
In our opinion, most of these banks offer excellent rewards with relatively low levels of risk. With the president-elect promising looser regulations, these banks can possibly gain even more momentum in 2017. The caveat for these currently very politically sensitive stocks, is changes in direction towards bringing back Glass-Steagall may cause turmoil and would inevitably affect the ratings of the largest banks.
The Top 10 Bank Stocks with the Highest Total Returns in 2016 are:
- Summit Financial Group, Inc. (SMMF)
- Meta Financial Group, Inc. (CASH)
- Middleburg Financial Corporation (MBRG)
- The Bank of NT Butterfield & Son Limited (NTB)
- Stock Yards Bancorp, Inc. (SYBT)
- Southside Bancshares, Inc. (SBSI)
- Merchants Bancshares, Inc. (MBVT)
