Celestica Inc. (CLS) Down 6.6% — Should I Harvest This Position?

  • CLS fell 6.56% to $302.12 from $323.32 the previous trading day
  • Weiss Ratings assigns B- (Buy)
  • Market cap is $37.32B

Celestica Inc. (CLS) is under heavy pressure this Thursday, changing hands at $302.12 on the NYSE, a $21.20 decline from the prior close of $323.32. The selloff deepens a retreat that has been building for months. CLS now trades roughly 36.3% below its 52-week high of $474.03, a level it reached on June 2, 2026. More than a third of the stock's value has been erased in a little over four months, and today's move adds to that drawdown rather than interrupting it.

Volume stands at about 2.34 million shares against a 90-day average of roughly 2.30 million, already slightly above a full normal session with trading still underway. The selling is spread across ordinary turnover rather than a panicked spike.

Why Celestica Inc. Price is Moving Lower

The most plausible driver is a broad selloff in AI and semiconductor stocks, set off by a second straight day of hot inflation data. U.S. producer prices came in well above forecasts on October 15. Core PPI rose 0.7% month over month against a 0.3% expectation, and headline PPI was up 6.3% year over year versus 5.3% expected. Coming a day after a hotter-than-expected CPI print, the reports revived fears of higher borrowing costs. They also raised concerns about pressure on the debt-funded data-center buildout that has powered Celestica's growth. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 3.62% on the day, after dropping 4.30% on October 14. AI infrastructure hardware names took some of the worst damage: Dell Technologies Inc. (DELL) is down 7.98% and Arista Networks, Inc. (ANET) is off 6.37%.

Celestica's decline is steeper than the semiconductor index, and a company-specific worry appears to be adding to the sector move. Investors are focused on whether Google's addition of TPU suppliers could reduce Celestica's share of higher-value work on that program. Bernstein reiterated its Outperform rating and $520 price target ahead of earnings. The firm described the TPU supplier issue as an investor worry rather than a confirmed lost order. Even so, for a stock whose valuation leans heavily on hyperscaler demand, any hint of share loss at a major customer is enough to amplify a risk-off session.

The selloff comes despite strong recent results. For the quarter reported on July 27, Celestica posted revenue of $4.70 billion, up 62% year over year, and adjusted EPS of $2.54. Both figures cleared the company's own guidance ranges of $4.15 billion to $4.45 billion and $2.14 to $2.34. Management guided Q3 revenue to $5.25 billion-$5.55 billion and adjusted EPS to $2.88-$3.08, with results scheduled for October 26. That report now becomes the next test of whether the AI demand story can hold up against rising rate anxiety.

What is the Celestica Inc. Rating - Should I Sell?

Weiss Ratings assigns CLS a B- rating. Current recommendation is Buy. That rating reflects a business with fundamentals that remain among the strongest in its industry. The minus modifier reflects a stock whose price behavior has been far less dependable than its operating results.

The fundamental case is anchored by Excellent ratings on the Growth, Efficiency, and Solvency indices. The Growth Index rating reflects 62.39% revenue growth, an unusual pace for a contract manufacturer. It shows how decisively Celestica has moved toward hyperscaler networking and data-center hardware. The Excellent Efficiency Index rating is backed by a 52.69% return on equity, a standout figure in a sector known for thin margins. A 7.15% profit margin is similarly strong for a company that builds hardware to customer specifications. The Excellent Solvency Index rating suggests the balance sheet can absorb a cyclical slowdown in data-center spending without strain.

Where the picture becomes more nuanced is in the market-facing dimensions. Celestica is rated Fair on both the Total Return Index and the Volatility Index. A stock trading roughly 36% below its June high has handed back a large share of earlier gains. Today's 6.56% drop shows how sharply CLS reacts when inflation data jolts the AI hardware trade. These Fair ratings explain why the overall rating sits at B- rather than higher. Valuation adds to the caution: at a forward P/E of 33.62, the shares leave little room for disappointment if hyperscaler spending slows or the TPU concern turns into lost business.

Within the Information Technology sector, Celestica trails several larger hardware and networking names. Amphenol Corporation (APH, A-) holds the strongest rating in the group. Dell Technologies Inc. (DELL, B), Arista Networks, Inc. (ANET, B), and Cisco Systems, Inc. (CSCO, B) each sit a notch above Celestica. The gap reflects Celestica's higher volatility more than any weakness in its operating results.

About Celestica Inc.

Celestica Inc. (CLS) is an Information Technology company that provides design, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain services to some of the world's largest technology and industrial companies. The company is headquartered in Toronto and began as a manufacturing operation spun out of IBM. Over time it has grown from a traditional electronics manufacturing services provider into a key supplier of hardware for hyperscale cloud and AI infrastructure.

The business runs through two segments. Connectivity & Cloud Solutions is the growth engine. It produces high-speed data-center networking switches, servers, and storage systems for hyperscalers and enterprise customers. It also sells its own Hardware Platform Solutions, in which Celestica designs the hardware itself rather than simply building to a customer's blueprint. Advanced Technology Solutions serves aerospace and defense, industrial, healthtech, and capital equipment markets, including semiconductor equipment. That segment gives the company some diversification beyond the data-center cycle.

Celestica's competitive edge comes from its engineering depth in high-bandwidth networking, its global manufacturing footprint, and long-standing relationships with major cloud providers. Its shift toward higher-value design work has lifted margins above traditional contract-manufacturing levels. The flip side is customer concentration: a small number of hyperscalers account for a large share of demand, so changes in their supplier mix or capital spending plans can carry outsized weight.

Investor Outlook

Celestica (CLS) carries a Weiss Rating of B- (Buy), backed by Excellent growth, efficiency, and solvency. Rising rate fears and questions about its position in Google's TPU supply chain argue for a measured approach while volatility stays elevated. The October 26 report is the key near-term event. Investors should watch whether revenue lands within the $5.25 billion to $5.55 billion guidance range and whether management addresses its share of hyperscaler programs directly.
