GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. (GEHC) Up 8.5% — Is This the Spot to Start Accumulating?

  • GEHC rose 8.48% to $87.50 from $80.66 the previous trading day
  • Weiss Ratings assigns C (Hold)
  • Market cap is $36.47B with a dividend yield of 0.18%

GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. (GEHC) is surging on Wednesday, last changing hands at $87.50 on the NASDAQ. That is a $6.84 gain from the prior close of $80.66 and one of the strongest single-session moves for the stock this year. The rally carries GEHC to within about 2.5% of its 52-week high of $89.77, a level set on January 8, 2026. A retest of that peak is now well within reach, after the stock spent most of the year working back toward it.

Volume is running at roughly 5.66 million shares so far, compared with a 90-day average of about 4.09 million. That is roughly 38% above normal turnover with the session still open, which shows real buying conviction behind the advance.

Why GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. Price is Moving Higher

Today's lift is a sector-wide rally, and GEHC arrives at it with fresh momentum from last week's results. The Democratic sweep of Congress in the U.S. midterm elections removed a major layer of election uncertainty and raised hopes for less severe cuts to healthcare funding. Healthcare stocks moved higher on the news; the Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) was up 2.6% in premarket trading and HCA Healthcare (HCA) jumped 8.6% in the morning session. Medical technology names have been among the biggest beneficiaries. Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (ISRG) is up 9.67% and Stryker Corporation (SYK) is up 9.42%, both moves in line with GEHC's own gain.

GEHC entered this rally with one of the cleaner fundamental stories in the group. On October 28, the company reported Q3 adjusted EPS of $1.34, well above the $1.21 consensus, on revenue of $5.51 billion against a $5.36 billion estimate. Revenue grew 7.2% year over year, and adjusted EPS climbed 25.1% from $1.07 in the prior-year quarter. GAAP EPS came in at $1.36, up 39.1%. Profitability expanded meaningfully. Net income margin rose to 11.1% from 8.7%, and adjusted EBIT margin improved to 16.6% from 14.8%. That is the kind of operating leverage investors want to see from a capital equipment maker.

Management also raised its outlook. The company lifted its 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $4.95 to $05.05, up from $4.80 to $5.00, and now expects organic revenue growth of about 4%, compared with a prior range of 3% to 4%. A beat-and-raise quarter followed by a broad sector rally is a powerful combination. At a forward P/E of 17.02, GEHC still trades at a reasonable multiple for a company delivering double-digit earnings growth and expanding margins.

What is the GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. Rating - Should I Buy?

Weiss Ratings assigns GEHC a C rating. Current recommendation is Hold. That rating reflects a company with first-rate fundamentals whose stock has not yet translated that strength into a consistent shareholder experience. Today's breakout could mark the start of closing that gap.

The business itself scores at the top of the scale. GEHC is rated Excellent on the Growth Index, Efficiency Index, and Solvency Index. The Growth rating is supported by 7.19% revenue growth, a solid pace for an imaging and diagnostics franchise of this size. The 25.1% jump in third-quarter adjusted EPS shows that growth is reaching the bottom line. A 20.02% ROE backs the Excellent Efficiency rating, a strong return for a manufacturer that has to fund heavy R&D and a global service network. The 9.95% profit margin trails the quarter's 11.1% net margin, which suggests profitability is trending in the right direction. The Excellent Solvency rating gives GEHC room to keep investing in new platforms and acquisitions without straining its balance sheet.

Where the picture becomes more nuanced is in the market-facing dimensions. GEHC is rated Weak on the Total Return Index, the Volatility Index, and the Dividend Index. The stock set its 52-week high back in January and has spent much of the year below that level, so holders have not been rewarded in proportion to the company's operating gains. Today's 8.48% surge on the sector rally is good news, but a move that large in a $36.47 billion company also shows why the Volatility Index is not rated higher. The Weak Dividend Index reflects a 0.18% yield. GEHC is a reinvestment story, not an income vehicle. Together, these ratings keep the overall grade at C rather than in Buy territory. If the stock can hold today's gains and break through its January high, the Total Return picture could begin to improve.

Within the Health Care sector, GE HealthCare is on par with UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (UNH, C), Abbott Laboratories (ABT, C), Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (ISRG, C), and Stryker Corporation (SYK, C). It trails CVS Health Corporation (CVS, C+), which carries a slightly stronger risk/reward profile in Weiss's framework despite its sharp decline today. Among its medtech peers, GEHC stands out for pairing top-tier fundamentals with one of the more modest forward valuations in the group.

About GE HealthCare Technologies Inc.

GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. (GEHC) is a Health Care company in the Health Care Equipment and Services industry. It became an independent public company after its separation from General Electric in early 2023 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The company designs, manufactures, and services medical technology used by hospitals, imaging centers, and clinics around the world. Its portfolio spans diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, patient monitoring, and pharmaceutical diagnostics.

Imaging is the core of the business. GE HealthCare's lineup includes the SIGNA family of MRI systems, Revolution CT scanners, X-ray and mammography equipment, and molecular imaging systems used in PET and SPECT procedures. In ultrasound, the Voluson platform is widely used in women's health, the LOGIQ systems in general imaging, and the Vscan Air handheld device brings point-of-care scanning to the bedside. The company's patient care business offers CARESCAPE monitoring systems and anesthesia delivery equipment. Its pharmaceutical diagnostics segment produces contrast media such as Omnipaque and radiopharmaceutical agents that are used in a large share of imaging procedures worldwide.

GE HealthCare's competitive advantages come from its large installed base, long-term service contracts, and the recurring revenue generated by its contrast agents and radiopharmaceuticals. Every scanner placed in a hospital creates years of service, software, and consumables revenue, which builds durable customer relationships that are costly to displace. The company is also investing heavily in AI-enabled imaging, digital workflow tools, and theranostics. Those efforts position it to capture demand as health systems modernize aging equipment and push for greater diagnostic precision.

Investor Outlook

GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. (GEHC) carries a Weiss Rating of C (Hold), and its Excellent fundamentals, beat-and-raise Q3, and proximity to its $89.77 52-week high make it a name worth watching closely. Key signals to monitor are a decisive break above that January peak and continued margin expansion toward the raised 2026 adjusted EPS target of $4.95 to $5.05.
