Quanta Services, Inc. (PWR) Up 5.0% — Time to Shift From Cash to Shares?

  • PWR rose 4.99% to $652.18 from $621.18 the previous trading day
  • Weiss Ratings assigns B- (Buy)
  • Market cap is $93.60B with a dividend yield of 0.07%

Quanta Services, Inc. (PWR) is gaining ground on Tuesday, last changing hands at $652.18 on the NYSE —  up $31.00 from the prior close of $621.18. The advance extends a rebound that began with last week's blowout quarter. It also narrows the gap to the stock's 52-week high of $788.75, set on May 6, 2026. PWR still sits about 17.3% below that peak, which leaves meaningful room to run for investors who believe the power infrastructure buildout is still in its early innings.

Volume stands at roughly 507,307 shares with the session still in progress, compared with a 90-day average of about 1.15 million. That puts turnover at roughly 44% of a full day's typical activity, so buyers have lifted the price by nearly 5% without heavy participation so far.

Why Quanta Services, Inc. Price is Moving Higher

Tuesday's gain is part of a broad rally across power and data-center infrastructure stocks, and Quanta is moving in step with the group's strongest names. The spark was a Bernstein research call that named Quanta among its preferred names. Bernstein argued that political risk to data-center projects may be far less damaging than investors feared. The firm estimated that 244 GW, or 56% of the 433-GW U.S. project pipeline, faces political risk. It still expects those projects to proceed, with developers absorbing more of the grid and power costs themselves. That view matters on Election Day, when the threat of policy disruption had been weighing on the entire power supply chain. By 1:30 p.m. ET, PWR was up 5.07% at $652.66. GE Vernova Inc. (GEV) was up 6.69%, Eaton (ETN) gained about 6%, and Vertiv (VRT) added roughly 5%. General Electric Company (GE) rose a more modest 1.77%, which shows that the buying is concentrated in the names most directly tied to grid and data-center spending.

Quanta brought a strong backdrop into this sector rally. Q3 results released on October 29 showed adjusted EPS of $6.06, far ahead of the $5.03 consensus. Revenue of $12.01 billion beat the $10.99 billion estimate by more than $1 billion. Revenue climbed 57.4% year over year and adjusted EPS rose 82%. Net income more than doubled, up 104.7% to $694.9 million. Adjusted EBITDA jumped 68.8% to $1.45 billion, an adjusted EBITDA margin of about 12.1%.

Management followed the beat by raising its 2026 revenue outlook to $41.3 billion–$41.6 billion and its adjusted EPS outlook to $17.90–$18.30. Backlog reached a record $63.7 billion, which gives Quanta years of contracted visibility. Bernstein's case that the 433-GW pipeline will keep moving forward rests heavily on contractors like Quanta to build it. Today's rally is the market connecting that demand outlook to the company with the record backlog to show for it.

What is the Quanta Services, Inc. Rating - Should I Buy?

Weiss Ratings assigns PWR a B- rating. Current recommendation is Buy. The rating reflects a company with exceptional operating momentum and a strong balance sheet, held back from a higher grade mainly by how the stock has traded over the past year.

The fundamental case starts with Growth, where Quanta is rated Excellent. Revenue expanded 57.44%, a pace almost unheard of for a contractor already generating more than $40 billion annually. The raised 2026 guidance and $63.7 billion backlog suggest that growth is contracted rather than speculative. The Excellent rating on the Solvency Index is just as important for a business that must fund labor, equipment, and working capital ahead of project billing. It indicates Quanta can take on larger and more complex jobs without straining its finances. The Efficiency Index is rated Good. A ROE of 18.02% is solid for a capital-intensive builder. A 4.51% profit margin reflects how thin the economics of field construction work can be, and that margin is the main reason Efficiency stops short of Excellent. Third-quarter net income growth of 104.7% on 57.4% revenue growth shows margins are widening as volume scales.

Where the picture becomes more nuanced is on the market-facing dimensions. Quanta is rated Fair on the Total Return Index because the stock remains about 17% below its May high of $788.75, even after this week's rebound. Holders who bought near that peak have not yet been rewarded. The Fair Volatility Index reflects the same sensitivity on display today, when a single sector research call pushed shares up nearly 5% in one session. That swing works in investors' favor today, but it illustrates why the Volatility Index is not rated higher. The Dividend Index is also Fair, which is unsurprising with a 0.07% yield. Quanta returns value mainly by reinvesting in growth rather than paying shareholders directly. A forward P/E of 56.27 shows that the market already expects that growth to continue.

Within the Industrials sector, Quanta sits alongside Caterpillar Inc. (CAT, B-) and Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT, B-). It trails GE Vernova Inc. (GEV, B) and General Electric Company (GE, B) by one notch. RTX Corporation (RTX, A-) sits at the top of this peer group. Quanta's Excellent ratings on both Growth and Solvency put it in strong fundamental company, and steadier share-price performance could move the overall rating higher.

About Quanta Services, Inc.

Quanta Services, Inc. (PWR) is an Industrials company and one of North America's largest specialty contractors for electric power and utility infrastructure. Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, Quanta designs, builds, upgrades, and maintains the systems that generate, move, and deliver electricity. Its work covers high-voltage transmission lines, substations, local distribution networks, and renewable generation and battery storage installations. The company also handles emergency storm restoration for utilities after hurricanes, wildfires, and severe weather.

The business operates through its Electric Infrastructure Solutions segment and its Underground Utility and Infrastructure Solutions segment. The electric business serves investor-owned utilities, grid operators, and a growing roster of technology and industrial customers that need large-scale power connections. Its 2024 acquisition of Cupertino Electric strengthened Quanta's position in electrical work for data centers and other high-demand facilities. The underground segment builds and maintains natural gas distribution systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure for energy and industrial clients.

Quanta's competitive edge rests on its skilled workforce, which is among the scarcest resources in the power sector. The company invests heavily in training through Northwest Lineman College, which helps it develop the linemen and craft workers that rivals struggle to hire. Proprietary energized-work technologies such as the LineMaster robotic arm let crews service live high-voltage lines without shutting off power. Quanta's scale also lets it bid on multi-year programs that smaller contractors cannot handle. Together, the labor pipeline, engineering capability, and long-standing utility relationships make Quanta a preferred partner as grid modernization and data-center power demand accelerate.

Investor Outlook

Quanta Services, Inc. (PWR) carries a Weiss Rating of B- (Buy), supported by 57.44% revenue growth, a record $63.7 billion backlog, and raised full-year guidance. Investors should watch whether data-center developers keep advancing projects through the post-election policy environment, as Bernstein expects, and whether Quanta continues to widen margins as it works toward its $17.90–$18.30 adjusted EPS target.
