Venture Global, Inc. (VG) Up 5.2% — Time to Open a Position at Last?

  • VG rose 5.15% to $13.47 from $12.81 the previous trading day
  • Weiss Ratings assigns C (Hold)
  • Market cap is $32.03B with a dividend yield of 0.73%

Venture Global, Inc. (VG) is pushing higher on Friday, last changing hands at $13.47 on the NYSE. That is a $0.66 gain over the prior close of $12.81 and one of the sharper advances in a market that is otherwise struggling. The move gives the stock a firmer footing as it works back toward its 52-week high of $17.62, set on March 24, 2026. At current levels, VG still sits roughly 23.6% below that mark, which leaves meaningful room to recover if the commercial story keeps building.

Volume stands at approximately 4.05 million shares with the session still underway, compared with a 90-day average of roughly 14.38 million. That puts turnover at about 28% of a typical full day so far.

Why Venture Global, Inc. Price is Moving Higher

The catalyst is company-specific. On October 22, Reuters reported that QatarEnergy is in advanced talks to buy at least 3 million tonnes per year of LNG from Venture Global, citing three people familiar with the negotiations. The deal is not yet signed, and timing and contract length have not been set. Still, it signals that one of the world's largest LNG producers is looking to Venture Global for supply.

The backdrop explains the urgency. QatarEnergy has already been buying spot cargoes from VG because disruption to Strait of Hormuz shipping has curtailed its own supply. Turning that spot relationship into a long-term offtake commitment would improve VG's long-term sales visibility and strengthen the commercial case for its CP2 project.

The broader shift toward U.S. supply is also visible. QatarEnergy signed agreements with Cheniere (LNG) for 4 million tonnes a year through 2054, confirming that buyers are locking in American LNG on multi-decade terms. That demand is helping Energy names broadly, with SLB N.V. (SLB) up 5.38% and Diamondback Energy, Inc. (FANG) up 4.06% today. Even so, VG's gain stands out against a weak tape: the S&P 500 was down 0.5% and the Dow was off 1.3% in morning trading.

Analyst support is adding to the momentum. Scotiabank raised its 2026 EPS estimate for VG to $1.79 from $1.75. That revision rests on a strong Q2 report released August 11. Venture Global posted EPS of $0.51 against the $0.49 consensus. Revenue reached $4.58 billion versus the $4.50 billion estimate, up 47.6% from $3.10 billion a year earlier. Management also raised its 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to a range of $8.7 billion to $9.1 billion, up from $8.2 billion to $8.5 billion. The next test arrives on November 10, when VG reports Q3 results before the market opens.

What is the Venture Global, Inc. Rating - Should I Buy?

Weiss Ratings assigns VG a C rating. Current recommendation is Hold. The rating captures a company whose operating momentum is outpacing its stock's track record. That gap is exactly what makes VG worth watching closely.

The strongest part of the profile is growth. The Excellent rating on the Growth Index reflects 47.63% revenue growth, the result of new liquefaction capacity coming online and converting into cargoes sold into a tight global market. The Good rating on the Solvency Index matters a great deal for a company of this capital intensity. It indicates that VG's balance sheet can support the financing demands of large-scale projects like CP2 without signaling distress. A forward P/E of 10.08 against trailing EPS of $1.27 suggests the market has not fully priced in the earnings trajectory implied by the raised EBITDA guidance.

Where the picture becomes more nuanced is efficiency and shareholder experience. The Fair rating on the Efficiency Index may seem conservative next to a 33.64% ROE and a 22.05% profit margin. However, those returns come from an enormous fixed-asset base still in the build-out phase, and the efficiency of that capital deployment will only be fully proven once the projects mature. The Weak ratings on the Total Return Index and the Volatility Index reflect a stock that still trades about 23.6% below its March high. Today's 5% swing on a single Reuters report about the Qatar talks shows how sharply VG reacts to commercial headlines. The Very Weak Dividend Index rating is consistent with a 0.73% yield from a company reinvesting heavily in growth rather than returning cash to shareholders.

Within the Energy sector, Venture Global  sits alongside SLB N.V. (SLB, C) and Woodside Energy Group Ltd (WDS, C). It trails BP p.l.c. (BP, C+) and Diamondback Energy, Inc. (FANG, C+), both of which carry slightly stronger risk/reward profiles in Weiss's framework. Of the group, however, VG has the most distinctive growth engine.

About Venture Global, Inc.

Venture Global, Inc. (VG) is an Energy company and one of the fastest-growing producers of liquefied natural gas in the United States. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, the company develops, builds, and operates LNG export facilities along the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Its operating assets include Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines LNG. CP2 is the next major expansion in its development pipeline.

The company's competitive edge comes from its construction approach. Venture Global uses mid-scale, factory-built liquefaction trains in a modular configuration rather than the large custom-built trains used across much of the industry. This design allows faster deployment and phased production, so the company can begin generating cash from early trains while later phases are still being completed. That speed to market has helped Venture Global add capacity faster than many established competitors.

Beyond liquefaction, Venture Global has built an integrated business that spans pipeline infrastructure, LNG shipping, and regasification capabilities. This lets it manage cargoes from the Gulf Coast to end markets in Europe and Asia. Its customer base includes major utilities, national energy companies, and global portfolio players, many of them seeking long-term supply that is diversified away from geopolitically exposed routes. That positioning places Venture Global at the center of the global shift toward U.S. LNG.

Investor Outlook

Venture Global, Inc. (VG) carries a Weiss Rating of C (Hold). Its combination of 47.63% revenue growth, raised EBITDA guidance, and potential long-term demand from QatarEnergy makes it a compelling name for investors tracking the U.S. LNG build-out. The key items to watch are whether the Qatar talks turn into a signed offtake agreement and what the November 10 Q3 report shows on CP2 progress and full-year guidance.
