17 Percent Rise in Healthcare Costs over The Last Five Years

According to an analysis of 1,093 health insurers by Weiss Ratings, healthcare costs continued to rise in the second quarter. This continues the current trend that started after 2010, a year when Obamacare was signed into a law, and when the premium rates were almost flat.

The latest health data analysis indicates that in the second quarter 2016, the average American paid an extra $3.69 per month for health insurance. This increase brings the total average monthly healthcare cost to $243.65 in Q2, 2016, up 1.5 percent from $239.96 in Q1.

Five years ago, in 2011, the Q2 average monthly cost of health insurance per person was $206.97, so this means we’ve had a 17 percent increase in health insurance costs since then.

This data does not contradict the recent confirmation of insurance cost rise for policies covered by the Affordable Care Act. It does, and will, continue to show how much of a change there has been in the price of all comprehensive coverage plans taken up by Americans.
