PVL Company Overview
Permianville Royalty Trust (NYSE: PVL) is a statutory trust formed to own and administer net profits interests (NPIs) in oil and natural gas producing properties located primarily in the United States. The trust operates within the upstream energy and mineral royalty sector and does not directly engage in drilling, field operations, or exploration activities. Instead, PVL’s revenues are derived from distributions tied to production volumes and commodity prices associated with underlying oil and gas assets. The trust’s primary economic exposure comes from producing wells and associated hydrocarbon reserves in the Permian Basin, Mid-Continent region, and portions of the Gulf Coast.
The trust was established in 2011 in connection with a conveyance of royalty interests from Enduro Resource Partners LLC and began trading publicly thereafter. PVL’s structure is designed to pass through cash generated from the underlying NPIs to unitholders after administrative and production-related deductions. Its positioning is differentiated by its exposure to mature producing assets rather than direct operating risk, allowing investors to participate in commodity-linked cash flows without the trust maintaining a traditional operating workforce or capital development program.
