2023 DeFi MasterClass
Module 01: Setting Up Your Tool Kit
1.1 Tool Kit Module Introduction
In this module, we will be setting up the tools and software that we need in order to carry out the strategies in the upcoming modules.
1.2 How the Two Systems Connect
In this lesson, I want to walk you through this diagram I’ve drawn of how the traditional finance system and the DeFi system connect.
1.3 Your DeFi On-Ramp
In this lesson, I’ll walk you through the three main areas of my recommended on-ramp and then conduct some demo transactions.
1.4 Setting Up Your DeFi Wallet
In this lesson, I’ll walk you through setting up your DeFi wallet, including generating your private key.
1.5 Transfer Crypto To Your DeFi Wallet
In this lesson, we’re going to take the crypto from your exchange account and transfer it to your new DeFi wallet.
1.6 Automated Portfolio Tracking
In this lesson, I’ll introduce you to the tool I recommend for automating your portfolio tracking.
Module 02: The Sideways Siphon Strategy
2.1 Sideways Siphon Module Introduction
Here we are in a brand-new module in which I will teach you my proprietary Sideways Siphon DeFi strategy.
2.2 How I Came To Develop This Strategy
I believe it’s important to explain how I came to develop this strategy to see if you can relate. Because if you can, then you’re much more likely to follow through with it.
2.3 The Innovation Of DEXes
DEX is an abbreviation for “decentralized exchange.” In this lesson, I take the concept of an exchange like the Nasdaq and turn it into a smart-contract-based exchange running on a blockchain.
2.4 Automated Market Makers
In this lesson, I’ll explain the invention of the automated market maker and where those fit into the picture.
2.5 Sideways Siphon Strategy Overview
In this module, I’ll explain how the Sideways Siphon takes the concept of an automated market maker and builds an entire strategy around it.
2.6 Step 1 – Selecting A Pair
In this lesson, I’ll explain how to carry out Step 1 in the Sideways Siphon strategy.
2.7 Step 2 – Calculating Projected Yield
Now, we are going to carry out Step 2 in the strategy: calculating a projected yield.
2.8 Step 3 – Identifying Consolidation Ranges
Now, we’ll deal with Step 3 in the strategy: identifying price ranges where the market is likely to move sideways.
2.9 Step 4 – Deploying Capital
Now, we’ll deal with Step 4 in the strategy: actually deploying capital.
2.10 Step 5 – Collecting Fees and Compounding Returns
Now, we’ll deal with Step 5 in the strategy: claiming fees and compounding returns.
2.12 Dealing With Black Swans
This lesson deals with how to get out of a bad situation. Expecting the market to only ever go up and having no plan for the downside is outright foolish.
2.13 My Live Examples
In this lesson, I’ll show you some of my live examples so we can use them as little case studies.
2.14 Finding Opportunities
In this lesson, my goal is to reassure you of the endless opportunities to apply the Sideways Syphon strategy.
2.15 Advanced Strategies
In this lesson, my goal is to show you just how dynamic the Sideways Syphon strategy is by demonstrating some advanced ways to apply it.
2.16 Using Multiple Wallet Addresses
In this lesson, I’ll show you a way to make managing multiple liquidity positions much easier.
2.17 Improving Your Results
In this lesson, I’ll show you ways to improve your results from the Sideways Syphon strategy.
Module 03: Supercharged DeFi
3.1 Supercharged DeFi Introduction
In this module, I’ll teach you all about supercharged DeFi, which is an enhancement to the knowledge you have gained so far.
3.2 The Supercharged Networks We’ll Be Using
The two supercharged DeFi networks we are going to be connecting to are Arbitrum and Optimism.
3.3 Supercharging Your Wallet
In this lesson, I’ll show you how to connect your wallet to our chosen supercharged DeFi networks.
3.4 Using Supercharged DeFi Bridges
In this lesson, I’ll show you how to transfer assets over to the supercharged DeFi networks using a bridge.
3.5 Using Supercharged DeFi Apps
In this lesson, I’ll show you how to interact with the different versions of a DeFi app that runs on multiple networks.
Appendix 1.1 - Blockchain Module Introduction
Welcome to this new module: “The Revolutionary Infrastructure: Blockchain.”
Appendix 1.2 - Blockchains
In this lesson, I’ll give an overview of the question: ”What is a blockchain?”
Appendix 1.3 - Decentralization
This is probably one of the most used words in the crypto space, and everyone seems to think it’s important … so let’s deal with it.
Appendix 1.4 – Open Source Software
This lesson is about open-source software: a key feature of the crypto space.
Appendix 1.5 - Software Protocols
This lesson is about software protocols, a term you are likely to hear a lot of in DeFi.
Appendix 1.6 - Security Through Encryption
This lesson is about encryption, which is a way of scrambling a message while it is in transit.
Appendix 1.7 - Security Through Consensus
In this lesson, I want to touch on another dimension of security in the blockchain world: consensus.
Appendix 1.8 - Private Keys
In this lesson, I’ll explain private keys and their role in the overall system.
Appendix 1.9 – Wallets
Everyone refers to them as wallets, and that term has now stuck. But it would be better if we had called them key rings.
Appendix 1.10 - Smart Contracts
Smart contracts are autonomous computer programs that act as mindless, automated go-betweens for digital transactions.
Appendix 1.11 - dApps
You’ll often see the word “dApp,” with a small “d” at the front, which refers to a decentralized app.
Appendix 1.12 - Nodes
A node in the context of DeFi refers to someone who is storing a full copy of the blockchain.
Appendix 1.13 - Mining and Validating
In this lesson, I’ll explain the role of miners, validators and their role in the overall system.
Appendix 1.14 - Connectivity
In this lesson, I’ll put the final nail in the coffin when it comes to any concerns about the resiliency of DeFi networks.
