CoreWeave, Inc. (CRWV) Down 7.8% — Is It Time to Shed This Weight?

  • CRWV fell 7.79% to $64.26 from $69.69 the previous trading day
  • Weiss Ratings assigns D- (Sell)
  • Market cap is $38.44B

CoreWeave, Inc. (CRWV) is under heavy pressure on Friday, last changing hands at $64.26 on the NASDAQ. That is a $5.43 drop from the prior close of $69.69 and extends a punishing week for the AI cloud provider. The stock now sits roughly 57.3% below its 52-week high of $150.40, a level reached on October 16, 2025, exactly one year ago. It is also only about 8% above the bottom of its 52-week range of $59.51, so the cushion between the current quote and fresh lows has grown thin.

Volume is running well above normal, with approximately 42.89 million shares traded against a 90-day average of roughly 30.54 million. That is about 40% above typical turnover, and the session is still open.

Why CoreWeave, Inc. Price is Moving Lower

Today's decline is part of a sector-wide sell-off aimed at debt-heavy AI infrastructure names, not a broad market retreat. Reuters reported that CoreWeave shares fell more than 8% in early trading and were down more than 22% for the week. Peers followed the same path. Nebius (NBIS) fell 6.4%, IREN slid 5.5%, and Applied Digital (APLD) dropped 4.2% in early trading. The pressure spread into the broader Information Technology group as well, with Snowflake Inc. (SNOW) down 7.48% and Cloudflare, Inc. (NET) off 6.92%. Hot inflation data and rising expectations of interest-rate hikes pushed investors to reprice companies that rely on borrowed capital to fund expansion.

CoreWeave carries about $50 billion of debt, which puts it near the center of that concern. The credit market has been flashing warnings. CoreWeave's October 2031 bonds briefly yielded above 16% on October 15. The cost of insuring its debt against default also rose above 1,000 basis points, a level that signals real skepticism about refinancing conditions. If borrowing costs keep climbing, the company's buildout becomes more expensive to finance before its AI demand turns into lasting profits.

The operating results so far have not settled that question. CoreWeave's Q2 report on August 11 showed revenue of $2.58 billion, ahead of the $2.56 billion consensus and up 112% from a year earlier. The adjusted loss of $1.03 per share was narrower than the $1.20 loss analysts expected. Management also raised its 2026 revenue outlook to between $12.4 billion and $13.2 billion. The bottom line moved the other way, however. Net loss widened to $626 million from $290 million a year earlier. The demand story is intact, but the capital required to serve that demand keeps growing, and that is exactly the exposure the market is punishing this week.

What is the CoreWeave, Inc. Rating - Should I Sell?

Weiss Ratings assigns CRWV a D- rating. The rating was upgraded on 6/24/2026. Current recommendation is Sell. The June upgrade lifted the stock off the lowest tier, but a D- still signals a risk/reward profile that does not justify new capital. This week's credit-driven sell-off reinforces why the rating has not climbed further.

CoreWeave's best marks are Fair ratings on the Growth, Solvency, and Total Return indices, and none of them is a clear strength. The Fair rating on the Growth Index looks modest next to 112.46% revenue growth and a 24.0% sequential jump from $2.08 billion in the March quarter to $2.58 billion in the June quarter. The rating holds back because that expansion has come with deeper losses, including a $3.66 per-share loss over the trailing period and a net loss that more than doubled year over year. The Fair Solvency Index rating reflects a company with substantial contracted demand behind its revenue but roughly $50 billion of debt on its books. Bond yields above 16% show why lenders are demanding a steep premium to carry that risk. The Fair Total Return Index rating captures a record split between the run to $150.40 a year ago and the retreat that has erased more than half of that value since.

The weaker dimensions are where the rating is anchored. CoreWeave is rated Very Weak on the Efficiency Index. Its -25.40% profit margin shows that every dollar of new GPU capacity is still consuming more than it returns, and that remains true despite more than $2.5 billion in quarterly revenue. The Weak rating on the Volatility Index fits a stock that has swung between $59.51 and $150.40 over the past year. It has now shed more than 22% in a single week as rate fears hit leveraged AI infrastructure.

Within the Information Technology sector, Coreweave is on par with Cloudflare, Inc. (NET, D-). It trails Adobe Inc. (ADBE, D+), Intuit Inc. (INTU, D+), and Strategy Inc (MSTR, D). Snowflake Inc. (SNOW, E+) ranks below CoreWeave, though that gap offers limited reassurance given how many of these names are falling together today.

About CoreWeave, Inc.

CoreWeave, Inc. (CRWV) is an Information Technology company in the Software and Services industry. It operates as a cloud infrastructure provider built specifically for artificial intelligence workloads. The company's core offering is the CoreWeave Cloud platform, which combines proprietary software and cloud services to automate and manage complex AI infrastructure at scale. Its compute layer spans graphics processing unit and CPU capacity, networking services, managed services, and both virtual and bare metal servers. Customers use it for machine learning, visual effects rendering, pixel streaming, and batch processing.

Above the hardware layer, CoreWeave has built a software stack aimed at keeping large GPU clusters productive. Its Local Object Transport Accelerator handles data and storage, while CoreWeave Kubernetes Service provides infrastructure control. Mission control services cover node, rack, and fleet lifecycle management. The company also offers runtime acceleration tools and the Weights & Biases AI developer platform, which gives it a foothold in model and agent development workflows rather than raw compute alone.

CoreWeave was incorporated in 2017 as Atlantic Crypto Corporation and adopted its current name in December 2019. It is headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey, and operates primarily in the United States. It is expanding internationally through a collaboration with AdaniConneX to operate a data center in India. The company competes against the hyperscale cloud providers on specialization: purpose-built infrastructure and software tuned for AI training and inference, delivered at the speed and scale that frontier model developers require.

Investor Outlook

With a Weiss Rating of D- (Sell), CoreWeave (CRWV) remains a high-risk position whose near-term direction depends as much on credit markets as on AI demand. Investors should watch the yield on the October 2031 bonds, default-insurance costs, and interest-rate expectations. They should also watch whether upcoming quarterly results keep the company on track for its $12.4 billion to $13.2 billion 2026 revenue target without a further widening of losses.
