Company Overview

Chevron Corporation is one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies, operating across the oil, natural gas, refined products, chemicals, and lower-carbon energy value chain. The company participates in upstream exploration and production, midstream transportation and storage, downstream refining and marketing, petrochemicals, power generation, and emerging energy technologies. Chevron’s operations are commonly organized around two primary segments: Upstream and Downstream, with additional activities in corporate and renewable energy initiatives. Revenue is primarily generated through the production and sale of crude oil, natural gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), refined petroleum products, lubricants, and petrochemical products.

Chevron serves industrial, commercial, utility, aviation, marine, and retail customers across global energy markets. The company traces its roots to the 1879 founding of Pacific Coast Oil Co., later becoming Standard Oil of California. Chevron expanded significantly through acquisitions and international development projects, including the mergers with Gulf Oil, Texaco, and more recently the announced acquisition of Hess Corporation, which remained subject to regulatory and arbitration-related developments in public filings as of 2025. Chevron’s scale, integrated operating structure, long-life upstream assets, LNG position, and capital discipline are frequently identified in public filings and industry analysis as strategic advantages.
