TGS serves regulated and non-regulated markets through long-haul gas transportation networks, liquids processing facilities, and infrastructure services tied to the development of unconventional shale resources, particularly in the Vaca Muerta formation.

TGS generates revenue mainly through its regulated natural gas transportation business, liquids production and exports, and midstream infrastructure services for oil and gas producers. The company transports natural gas from major producing basins to distribution companies, power generators, industrial users, and marketers. TGS was created in 1992 as part of the privatization of Argentina’s state-owned gas utility Gas del Estado. Over time, it expanded beyond regulated pipeline transportation into higher-margin liquids and midstream businesses, positioning itself as an integrated energy infrastructure operator with strategic exposure to Argentina’s shale development.
