The total market value of all outstanding shares used to determine the company’s size. It is calculated by multiplying the number of shares outstanding by the current market price of one share.

A company with market capitalization of $200 billion or more would belong to this category. Mega Cap is included under Large Cap (see Large Cap).
A company with market capitalization between $50 million and $2 billion would belong to this category. Micro Cap is a subcategory of Small Cap (see Small Cap).
A company with market capitalization between $2 and $10 billion would belong to this category.
Minority interest (or non-controlling interest) is the portion of a subsidiary corporation's stock that is not owned by the parent corporation. The minority interest in the subsidiary company is generally less than 50% of outstanding shares, or the corporation would generally cease to be a subsidiary of the parent.
