When it comes to top-of-the-line technology and security in the crypto world, one name outshines the rest.
That name is Ledger — a company that has made its name synonymous with the success around hard-wallet solutions.
The various wallet options have been covered before in this piece. And if you’re looking for more details or haven’t yet set up your own self-custody wallet, I suggest you read our Weiss Guide to Crypto Wallets.
As we’ve said previously, Ledger offers offline self-custody storage for your crypto assets. But more recently, it has extended its offerings beyond technology and security to be equally tapped into the crypto community, culture and art.
In fact, Ledger has made serious efforts to hire all the right people, especially when it comes to building a brand that is utilized by people building in the space — individuals working to grow web3 day in and day out.
One such hire is Gaspard Broustine, NFT project manager and art curator at Ledger. He’s heading Ledger’s new Genesis Pass, an NFT that includes access to exclusive collaborations, limited edition hardware and more.
In short, this one NFT gives you access to additional art drops in collaboration with top digital artists. The Genesis Pass also entitles holders to redeem a free, limited-edition black-on-black Nano X wallet.
Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to hop on a call in which Gaspard broke it all down. He also revealed that while the Genesis Pass had sold out, there is another art project in the works that will also offer a compelling value proposition.
To me, this is definitely good news, because in my opinion, the Genisis Pass was already overpriced, especially considering how the art will be an open edition with too many editions for there to be much value in the future.
So, while I love the art being curated to Genesis Pass holders, I simply don’t love the value proposition.
Which is why the art on the Ledger Stax Mint Pass caught my attention. This is a mint pass that will give holders access to a claim to mint a unique, one-of-one piece of generative art from some incredible artists in that space.
The art will be dropped in the months ahead, and you will need to keep up with Ledger’s Twitter page for updates.

So, how does it work? There will be a total of 4,800 passes that represent 4,800 pieces of one-of-one generative art. Five artists will contribute to the creation of this collection, with each artist creating 960 pieces.
To learn more about these five generative artists, you can check out the project page here.
When it comes to claiming your piece of art, all you have to do is connect your MetaMask wallet with the mint pass, which will then click to mint. From there, your unique artwork will be dropped to you at random.
And coming full circle is the fact that the generative art you mint has been designed to be displayed on Ledger’s newest hardware wallet, Ledger Stax, which is set to be released in the weeks ahead. All you need to do is transfer your NFTs to your Stax device from your MetaMask wallet once it’s ready.

While the current Ledger wallets are small and can be difficult to use, the Ledger Stax is designed to be larger and much easier to handle. And again, there is the added bonus where the screen will be set up to feature the art as well.
At time of writing, the floor price of a Ledger Stax Mint Pass sits at just 0.044 ETH, or roughly $79, and can be picked up on the secondary market.
So, if you’re in the market for a hardware wallet or looking for an upgrade, consider this option for even more benefits.
Best,
Joel
